Rejang Park was initially a low cost housing project located in the heart of Sibu, Sarawak. The developers are state government-owned Borneo Development Corporation. It is opined that the location of Rejang Park was initially developed in the early 1980s. Rejang Park for the most part consists of single or double-storey terrace houses. The commercial centre within is the heart of all activity within the vicinity.
Within Rejang Park, there is a kindergarten, primary school, a park and a multi-purpose stadium. Rejang Park is pretty much a self-sufficient neighborhood as many of the residents here are retirees and their area of activity is limited to the immediate vicinity. Sibu is considered to be predominantly populated by the Foo Chow and their delicacies and culture could be experienced at this location.
Rejang Park is also where we’ve built memories as a family. He’s been taking me here when we moved back, and he frequents this little cafe called Leong Leong when he was only 15/16 years old. He is now 42. Some days of the week, after I pick my toddler up from nursery, we’d get some snacks and then feed the birds at the neighbourhood. I’ll never get bored of looking at her playing with the birds blissfully, it is the childhood that I want her to have. I’d imagine her coming back to this place, many years from now, with her own friends.
